ESCWA contribution to QITCOM-2017 in Doha, Qatar

Within the framework of the technical cooperation program that ESCWA implements in partnership with its Member States, and based on the invitation received from the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) in Qatar to contribute to the 4th edition of QITCOM (conference and exhibition), ESCWA has conducted a mission to Doha, Qatar, from the 6th to the 8th of March 2017.
Represented by Dr. Nawar Al-Awa, Regional Advisor on Technology for Development, ESCWA contributed to the conference and to the exhibition by a presentation on “Technology and education: as enablers of the 2030 Development in the Arab region”. Dr. Al-Awa discussed with exhibition visitors and conference delegates ESCWA events, activities, projects and initiatives in the area of technology for development.
The conference was patronized by HRH Prince Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. More than 13,000 visitors, representing various technology-related sectors, attended the exhibition.
Discussions and meetings held during the conference and the exhibition showed the interest in ESCWA activities, studies and projects in general, and in the field of e-Government measurement, smart services, innovation and open government in particular. Discussants stressed on the importance of capacity-building workshops and advisory services provided by ESCWA, in coordination with national partners, in the areas of technology for development.
